Using the Optimization Module for Power Electromagnetics Problems

Optimization is useful in the analysis of power electromagnetics and magnetic fields problems. For instance, you can test different design parameters of a coil to achieve a uniform magnetic field.

In this video, learn how to optimize a coil design in COMSOL Multiphysics^® with the Optimization Module and AC/DC Module. We demonstrate how to set up a 2D axisymmetric model of a set of coils. Then we perform an optimization of the current through each turn as well as the coil spacing to achieve a uniform magnetic field along part of the centerline.
