Modeling Manufacturing Processes with COMSOL Multiphysics®
In this archived webinar, we discuss the use of the COMSOL Multiphysics® software for modeling manufacturing processes involving heat transfer, solid mechanics, and fluid flow. Our talk opens with an introduction to the Structural Mechanics Module, an add-on to the software, and some of the built-in material models useful for modeling manufacturing processes. From there, we discuss the types of electromagnetics modeling that can be performed in the software and which add-on products are best suited for each. This is followed by a detailed discussion of the Heat Transfer Module, including its capabilities for modeling conduction, convection, and radiation and the ready-made multiphysics couplings.
Next, we delve into the Metal Processing Module, Polymer Flow Module, and Microfluidics Module and their respective potential applications. To conclude the talk, we provide a demonstration of modeling fluid–structure interaction in an aluminum extrusion and briefly go over an additive manufacturing example.
