Flow Induced Oscillations of Marine Risers with Wake Interference
Veröffentlicht in 2010
With offshore oil and gas exploration and production moving into ever deeper waters, the suspended length of marine risers (transporting hydrocarbons from the seabed to the surface) can easily exceed 3000 meters. One of the major design requirements for risers in (ultra) deep water is to limit the fatigue damage caused by vortex induced vibrations (VIV). Even moderate currents can induce vortex shedding, at a rate determined by the flow velocity. In this paper, the fluid structure interaction capabilities of COMSOL Multiphysics are applied to study the vibration behavior of multiple risers.
