Importing parameterized geometries?

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hey Guys,

I'd like to import geometries used in a previous model which are partly defined with parameters (certain distances, lengths, radii). Is it possible to import an existing geometry into COMSOL without just having the "import"-bracket? I'd need to do some parametric sweeps afterwards and in that case I'd have to build a new model for that.

I am not sure I understand what you mean by "without just having the "import"-bracket ", but from the rest of your post it seems that you can use Insert Sequence.
Best regards,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,

that's actually what I mean. But how do I export a sequence? Haven't found the button for that, yet :/ .

You don't need to export a sequence out of the old file (the one that contains the geometric sequence you want to pass to a new file).
In the new file (the one into which you want to insert the sequence), you add an Insert Sequence node and in that node's settings you point to the old .mph file.
That's it.
In the new file, you'll notice that COMSOL brings in all the geometry parameters for you.

Thank you so much!

That made it and it's amazingly easy :). That will make further projects much easier.

Have a nice weekend,
Philipp. :-)

Is it possible to convert a Comsol imported geometry (or the geometry file itself- mphbin) to the original sequence without having the original simulation? Deleted it by mistake.
