Deposition of particles (considering thickness accumulation)

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I want to simulate the deposition of particles on a surface, like these two videos www.youtube.com/watch?v=mCvHQsAkBu0 and www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgtVcDyUmf4.

1. Particles are released from a plane/point source and travel in straight lines in vacuum.
2. Particles that hit the surface will stick to the surface and add contribution of thickness to the original surface.
3. At the end I'm interested in the film thickness and surface topography.

I wonder which physics/modules(s) are capable of achieving the results like in the videos. Are "particles tracing module (fluid or mathematical)" or "moving mesh" appropriate choices?

Best regards,
Yan

Hi Yan,
I wonder if you have any suitable models in COMSOL to fulfill the simulation. I also want to include the deposited particles' volumes into account.
Thank you in advance.
Best Regards,
Bill
