clueless error messages

Is there a list anywhere of what to look for, or what to do next (other then send the case in to support) when COMSOL returns an empty solution with the simple message "An error occured".

This happens to be on an incredibly complex RF model (430MB without the solution, approaching a thousand nodes in the geometry sequence, several hundred parameters...) that has run perfectly many times. Since the last successful run, a very minor addition was made to the geometry, and it was re-meshed. Now it craps out right after saying it solved for 8.6M DOFs, with the clueless message "An error occured". I've checked for all the usual suspects - undefined variables or parameters, lumped elements with impedances near zero, etc... Tried rebooting, rebuilding the mesh, etc.

Surely the support staff at COMSOL must have some tools to assist in such debugging that they could share with users ?? Or at least a list of suggestions....

Is there a way to tell COMSOL to generate more detailed error messages than standard ?

David
