CAD import problems

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi

I'm trying to CAD import a 3D solid object and I get a " self intersecting faces" message when I mesh.

using the "repair" feature doesn't help , For low tolerance nothing happpens. High tolerance repair sometines

allows meshing but the shape is distorted.

I'm using parasolid but also tried STEP and IGS.

Please help

David

Sugestion: get the CAD designer to review the original data, make sure it clean and/or post a copy on the forum if small enough.

Use the CAD repair features and remove all small surfaces, slivers, etc., to the extent possible.

Then try to find extraneous point, edges, and faces that are causing issues. Using the virtual geometry features, you can ignore, collapse, merge, combine, etc. these extraneous features so that you have the smooth surfaces intended without any small regions that cause meshing problems. Then try to mesh with these improvements in the CAD that has the unnecessary clutter that can sometimes come with a CAD import.
