using matlab with comsol

Hello,
I'm trying to solve a heat transfer problem using comsol.
The heat generation in my system is temperature dependent, and I need to refer comsol to a matlab function which gets the temperature and calculates the heat generated in the system.

At first I tried just to refer comsol to a function that doesn't use the temperature, but gives back a constant value - it worked.
Now, when I'm inserting the temperaure dependence, comsol gives an error (6314):

"Circular function dependency detected"

What I understand from the error is that I can't do what I want, but it doesn't make much sense to me - can't matlab get the momentary temperature from comsol, calculate the heat generation, and give it back to comsol? Can I only refer comsol to a matlab function which uses constant values, that do not depend on the solution of the differential equation?
Or am I doing something wrong?

Thank you,
Yael.
