Compressible Flow - Pressure Outlet Boundary Condition (Navier Stokes)

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi guys,

I have converged a model for gaseous flow across a packed bed, using Reacting Flow across a Porous Media (basically Navier Stokes-Brinkman's Equation). Now, this flow is compressible, and I do know that the pressure drop across the packed bed can be modelled by Ergun's equation.

What COMSOL needs is for me to specify inlet and outlet pressure conditions, which is a little surprising. Theoretically-speaking, if pressure drop across a packed-bed can be modelled by Ergun's equation, then COMSOL should be able to give me an answer, without needing me to specify the outlet pressure.

So now the question is, if my inlet flow pressure is 2 atm... what value should the outlet flow pressure be?
