Recording field at a fixed distance above the surface of a moving object

I have some trouble to find out the way to set this simulation up in COMSOL:
- a magnetic steel cylinder is moving periodically (sinus like) in one dimension (x-dimesion) within a given
magnetic homogen field (z-direction).
- this will change the local magnetic field
- a sensor sits on this cylinder to measure the magnetic field over time during the periodic swining at some fixed distance from the cylinder surface.
Question: How can this field at a fixed distance be recorded over time?
Is it possible to set up a kind of 2nd reference frame/coordinate system for the cylinder within the standard CAD coordinate system and give out the magnetic field over time in this ref. frame of that the sensor will detect? Aesthetic solution ;)
Or get the magnetic field distriubtion over time and get derive the values separated by the fixed distance from the cylinder over time. This probably needs the field data over time and then some mathematica/matlab postprocessing? Sledgehammer solution
Thanks for any hints, I could not find a related model in the library
