"Smart" manipulation of Solver Stepsize

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello everybody,

I am simulating an imbibition process into a porous matrix.
In principle the rising height and thus the volume of infiltrated water should increase somewhat proportional to. This means over time the changes in the system for one timestep become quiet small, which makes the computation more inefficient. Further it seems like the solver runs into bigger problems the smaller the changes become. The solver itself needs to take more iterations and smaller steps to progress. For more efficiency it would be great to gradually increase the step size over time. I wonder now, is it possible to feed this behaviour into the solver, so that the step size also increases over time?

Kind regards, Stefan
