How to define tie between two surface?

Hello!

If I want to tie a rubber with a metal's surface, I need to build a tie constraint between these two surface. In abaqus I can build a tie between two surface. Now the problem is, how to define it in comsol?

If using assembly with these two part, by using identity pair and define it in solid module with continuity?

If using Union with these two part, does it tie already?

You are right. In Assembly mode, you use an Identity Pair together with a Continuity node in Solid Mechanics. In Union mode, all domains are 'welded'.

The main difference is that in the latter case, the mesh will be matching, whereas in an assembly, the two domains can have a different mesh pattern on the common boundary.
