Material switch applied to single layer material

Hi, I'm tryng to make a Material Sweep study to a model based on the "vacuum_flask" tutorial model included in the application library. I was able to succesfully to make a material sweep study to the domain 1 (in green) showed in "Image 1" attached below. Now i want to make the same to the bottle shell (in blue, Image 2) to evaluate which material is best, but I haven't been able to make it. I'm sure it has to do with the fact I can't apply the Material Switch to the Single Layer material ("Steel(Layer)") to make it switch between material (Image 3), but I can't figure it out. I hope someone can help me!
