Best practices when running fluid-flow-dependent TDS studies

What recommendations do you give when running Transport of Diluted Species (TDS) simulations that depend on velocity fields from laminar flow studies. When using laminar flow and TDS, I never activate the fluid coupling since I usually have domains that must not experience velocities. If one enables the fluid coupling, all the domains in the study will depend on the velocity field. How do you properly run a simulation in which both the laminar fluid flow and the TDS are time-dependent? For instance, the velocity inlet fluctuates over time, and the concentration of a species changes with time.
