PCM Modelling

Hi ,

I am a Grad. student working with phase change materials in latent heat storage systems ,I need to create a model for simulating the phase change problem including the natural convection effects within it.
I have seen some algorithms used for these such as temperature transforming model & equivalent capacity model , but i didn't see one done in Comsol and including Natural convection effects.
Any Ideas ??

Thanks
David

Hi,

In comsol, you can't use enthalpy method. But you can use effective heat capacity method.

And you said convection for molten region?

You can employ kozey-carman approximation for that problem with comsol.

best regards.
