You change the canvas (i.e. 3D background color) by editing the target of your COMSOL icon:
"C:\Program Files\COMSOL\COMSOL50\Multiphysics\bin\win64\comsol.exe" -Dcs.canvascolor=255,255,120,255,255,204
where 255,255,120 is the RGB code for the color you want at the top of the Graphics window, and 255,255,204 is the RGB code for the color you want at the bottom of the Graphics window. 255,255,255 is white; 0,0,0 is black.
This works, I believe, for all versions since 4.0.

This is great, I have a follow up question, how do you control the color of the grid?
Thank you,

Hi Jeff,
I need to change the canvas color (COMSOL v4.4). I tried to follow your instructions but did not quite understand "editing the target of your COMSOL icon". Could you please give me more details or just upload a screenshot to help me with this? Thanks a lot in advance.
Best,
Can

Hello Can,
Right-click on the COMSOL icon on your desktop, then select Properties. In the window that pops up, under the Shortcut tab, you'll find the Target field. That's the string you need to edit.
Best regards,
Jeff

Hi Jeff,
Yes, it works now. Well, there was a small episode. At the beginning, I missed the space before "-Dcs....", with a pop-up saying like "invalid path...! " Then, I checked the string again and again and finally found the difference. Thanks very much!
