Eigenfrequency Study, tension of a beam

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi,

I am trying to find the resonance frequencies for a beam, with compression/tension. It has one fixed end and the other end has a load, tension, stretching it.

I have tried the eigenfrequency study, and it appears to solved for the bending frequencies of the beam, and ignores the load in the physics.

Is it possible to change this to solve for compression/tension instead of bending?

Thank you for any help. Regards David

Hello David,

This blog https://www.comsol.com/blogs/part-2-modeling-the-harmonic-excitations-of-nonlinear-systems/ , which is a follow up to this other blog https://www.comsol.com/blogs/part-1-modeling-the-harmonic-excitations-of-linear-systems/ , addresses how to perform an eigenfrequency analysis around a linearization point. It links to tutorials, including one of a pre-loaded structure very similar to your beam.

Best,

Jeff
