Bending Deformation

I need to model the stresses induced due to the insertion of a flexible MEMS resistance (which is fabricated on a flat substrate) into a tube. (See image "explanation_setup.jpg")
So far I've modeled the bending by partitioning my objects into 12 parts and setting the prescribed displacement for the edges to correspond to a half-circle. (see "attempted_deformation.jpg").
This results in many little waves which is not ideal. Also, modeling this way is very tedious.
Is there a simply way of prescribing a "half-circle" displacement directly? And if not, is there a way of getting rid of the waves?
I would be grateful for any help.
Thanks,
Amanda
