Shading effects on a ground

My project deals with shading effects on the ground. I am required to find the effect of the shade cloth like PE cloth on a farming field, and model the temperature, wind, humidity and other distributions with and without the shade cloth. I wouldn't know if I can do this in COMSOL or if I switch to opensource like OpenFoam. How shall I proceed? Are there any papers / articles related to them.

I would like to know if a similar example is available in 4.4 version, since the selection is different in 5.1 and 4.4
