initial Value for electrolyte and electrode

I want to ask question about initial Value for electrolyte and electrode. I read the manual, it is said that ''Use this node to specify the Initial Values of the electrolyte potential and the electric potential for the solver''. So setting up the initial value can just improve solver convergence, right? There is a time-dependent problem. The potential distribution of one domain changes with time because of boundary condition. Then I set up initial value 1V for this domain . Is that mean that the potential throughout this domain is 1V at t=0s? Or the potential distribution at t=0s is not related to initial value 1V, just to give a start point to get the convergence? The former or latter? Thank you so much
