Problem with maxop operator

Dear all,

I use the maxop function to find the maximum value for the electric field of two adjacent lines in a 2D model.

But I get the min value in 3 of 4 cases.

It seems the s up() and down() operators needs to be used in this case to look for maxima on the low field or on the highfield side.
I didn't figure out how to use the up() operator with eval(es2.normE).
