Create a modified physics for Laminar Flow (spf)

I want to create a modified version of Laminar Flow physics. What I need is a volume force that depends on the physical location and is calculated by a different model. Do I need to start from scratch and use the PDE user interface? Or is there an easier way of doing it by somehow modifying the existing Laminar Flow physics model?
