non periodic photonic band gap possible?

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

I want to examine a photonic band gap fiber that is completely realistic...one that only has a few rings of periodicity. Is this possible using comsol? I know how to model fibers that guide via total internal reflection correctly, but I cannot seem to figure out the necessary steps to find the modes/band gap plots for a non periodic photonic band gap fiber. The tutorial model "bandgap analysis of a photonic crystal" is useful, but it does not describe an actual fiber. Any responses are appreciated. Thanks!
