problem ACIS (.sat) file export using CAD import module

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

We would like to export solid geometry we have generated within COMSOL (4.3b). One of the most useful export formats for us is ACIS (.sat) format.

We have found that when we export our geometry to .sat files, no CAD program we've tried can read them. Depending on the importing CAD program, the importing process breaks (crashes the program), doesn't happen (importing program is silent, never imports the file), or throws an error message complaining about an incompatible ACIS version or a malformed ACIS file.

We've tried to import COMSOL-exported .sat files to Inventor, AutoCad, Solidworks, Fusion 360, and a few other programs that all import other .sat files perfectly well.

Can someone suggest how we might get usable ACIS exports from COMSOL? Thanks!
