Modeling Drug Release from domain A into domain B

I am doing a transient ficks diffusion model in comsol 4.2 (transport of diluted species)
I have a number of microspheres inside a big domain and these microspheres are at X mol/m3 concentration at time=0. The release rate f(t) is a function of t and is known. But I am confused how to input this feature in comsol. Should I incorporate the equation in term of concentration of the microspheres or as flux going from A to B.

I think my question would relate to other modules too, not just chemical one. I basically need to control the amount of flux from the source (microspheres); which would be given by an equation. Any suggestions?
