Editing Heat source equation in 4.1

Hello,
I have to heat a solid 5mm diameter sample using laser.
I was succefull in siulating a source at the surface and ged a good temperature distribution.
But I would like to include another term. Laser penetratets the sample and gets absorbed as a funcrion of depth.
Could you please help me to include this in the equation. I am using COMSOL 4.1. Thank you.

Dear Sankeerth,

you can define a Heat Source for the whole domain (Domain Heat Source) and let that heat source be a function dependent on the local coordiantes, especially the depth from the upper surface. Imagine a block and a laser beam coming from z-direction, hitting the block in x-y-plane. Now your heat source function could combine some gaussian distribution in x- and y-direction and some exponential decay due to absorption in z-direction. You also may want to add a parameter for the reflection.
