This sounds like a challenging modeling task to me, since it involves phase transitions. You'll have to capture all the appropriate non-linear physics if you want to have a comprehensive model. As a beginner, you might want to get accustomed to using Comsol Multiphysics by doing much simpler problems first, exploring things such as modeling electric current flow, heating, etc. Anyway, here's some links to papers that I found doing a simple search on the internet.
