modelling a semiconductor laser/led

I'm wondering if is possibile to simulate the generation of a light source in COMSOL, giving it the physical and geometrical characteristic of the device in order to see what the output will be. I have searched around but seems that, even if is possible to simulate the light effect and propagation, the generation is not considered in any module.
Any one have ever tried ?
