Comsol stops responding

Hello all, whenever I run a simulation that requires long processing time ( particularly in case of parametric sweep), I find that the program stops responding. Neither the results are updating nor I could terminate the simulation. What could be the possible reason?

Hi,

myself and others are observing this phenomenon. Look here for a few option to reduce the frequency:

Yeah sir, When I encountered this problem, I have gone through your suggestions. But still facing the same problem for the past 10 simulations. Can I overcome this if I switch to earlier versions of comsol (4.4, 4.3 b).

I haven't observed this in the 4.x versions. But that is not a guarantee. The issue might also result from some interaction with newer driver or windows components. Try it!

I am wondering if this behavior is observed under Linux? Any comments anybody? Any comments from Comsol?

If Linux was not affected it would indeed be a good reason to make a change.

This is a known issue in COMSOL Multiphysics 5.2a and it has been observed on all platforms. The issue arises occasionally when plotting while running the solver (including convergence plots, probe plots, and regular plot groups). The issue is fixed in COMSOL Multiphysics 5.3, available for download here:

If you can't update right now, it is recommended to turn off all plotting while running critical computations.
