Grain/Element Fracture in a Solar Cell

Hello, I am relatively new to COMSOL, and am using it for solar cell research with one of my professors. I have been assigned to try and figure out a method to cause grain/element fracture in a solar cell.

I have been able to cause fracture between boundaries of the grains using a thin elastic layer and applying a load to those boundaries. I have attached a snapshot of this boundary fracture.

My issue is that I seem to be unable to cause any other sort of fracture other than that grain boundary fracture. Does anyone know how I could go about causing fracture in the individual grains/elements themselves or if it's even possible? Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
