Is it possible to remove/delete mesh or separate nodes?

Hello, I am trying to simulate material removal by using pulsed electric field. I have used deformed mesh. Condition is if ec.normE is greater than a particular value, the mesh deforms. However, everytime inverted mesh problem occurs. I have tried with finer mesh, time step reduction, adaptive mesh and automatic remesh, but to no avail. I also want to know if its possible to remove material (mesh removal or node separation) from a particular position due to the condition. Do I have to write an explicit code to be able to remove material?? I have seen only 1 paper using Comsol that indirectly removes material by hiding the area above threshold value. Is it the proper way? I also need to further generate particles at those locations where material removal takes place. Can anyone guide me in this respect?
