Hey guys,

I am working on a simulation regarding piezoelectric material. What I have is a half cylinder electrode with nanotubes growing radially on its surface. the electrode is then embedded in a rectagular film.

It looks like the image attached in this discussion. What will happen is that the rectangle will be stretched on the faces perpendicular to the electrode. My goal is to see this stretch register a strain on the upper and bottom faces of the film, this strain will then press the nanotudes. I am doing this in time frequency domain and so far, i could not achieve enough strain with the stretch i have.

Can someone help me?

Have you tried just using a cylinder and nothing else? When I'm confused about how things work in a given physics, I revert to the simplest possible geometry.

Dear Chris,

Thank you for your reply. I havent tried that yet but I did scale it down and create a simplistic version. Attached is the image of the simplified version. With that, i was able to achieve the results I wanted. My goal is to be able to observe a gradient on each of the hexatubes. FOr the simplified version, it worked out but for the larger simulation, it did not.
