Keynote: Multiphysics Simulation Analysis Loudspeaker Drivers

In his keynote presentation at the COMSOL Conference 2015 Grenoble, Roberto Magalotti of B&C Speakers discusses how his organization uses a multiphysics simulation approach to analyze the design of loudspeaker drivers. Loudspeaker drivers are a type of energy transducer that converts electrical energy into sound. By using COMSOL Multiphysics to model the effects of electromagnetism, mechanics, acoustics, and thermodynamics inherent to a loudspeaker driver design, the researchers at B&C Speakers were able to predict how the device would operate at different frequencies and optimize its performance.

Magalotti also discusses how the capabilities of the COMSOL Multiphysics simulation software can be applied to cone loudspeakers, compression drivers, horns, waveguides, and other types of electroacoustic devices and systems.
