I assume you will get a better reply if you toild a little more, such as the equation you use, the boundaries, version and physics applied. In all generality, it's not evident to give a useful answer with your input.

Hi Ivar,
Physics type is solid mechanics. My model is, in short, a thin clinder (.405 mm diameter, 50mm long) bending over another cylinder (4mm diameter, 1 mm thick). Via contact pairs when I can get them to work.
Basically my problem is that when I apply a velocity to the two ends of the thin cylinder, the model (sometimes) works when I do it in the x direction but not the t1 boundary direction. I have tried simplifying this problem to see if i can get to the bottom of it by basically modelling just one cylinder, fixing one end and applying a velocity to the other and the same problem arises. I get the following error message.
Nonlinear solver did not converge.
Time : 0.0006250011920928956
Last time step is not converged.
On another note, with contact pairs, there is a default equation with the penalty function which is in orange...should I be put off by this? Im not sure if its causing further problems? Equation is...
min(1e-3*5^segiter, 1)*solid.E/solid.hmin_dst
