Modeling Particles In Flow

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hello,

I was curious about which module/physics interface would be appropriate for modeling a particle in flow. I realize that the particle tracing module is applicable when the fraction of particles/fluid volume is low and when the particle dimensions are << compared to channel dimensions. This is because it takes a pure Lagrangian approach to solving for particle motion (superimposes particles over an already solved field).

With that said, are there any interfaces to handle when these two limiting cases are not met...for example when the particle dimension is a significant fraction of the channel dimension and the deformation of the flow field has to be taken account.

Would a fluid-structure interaction approach be appropriate?

Can the two-phase flow moving mesh handle such a problem? Or is that physics interface reserved for fluid/fluid phases (such as liquid/liquid, gas/liquid)?

Thanks.
