Geometry visualization

Hello,

I am drawing a very thin block (cross section: 200 microns X 50 microns) which is very long (10 mm in lenght). When I draw such a structure in 3-D and go to the Default 3-D View, I apparently get a "real" view of the structure which is very difficult to visualize. I am wondering if there is a way to get a better representation of it, I mean a "visually shorter structure". After I drew it with the real units, I scaled it in the y-direction (entered Scale Factor = 0.5) but I think I'm just numerically shortening the structure as I can read it from the coordinates. Any of you have a suggestion for this?

Yes. Under "options", pick axis settings. Unclick "equal length" (or something like that, from memory). Then click "full extents" in the main menu. This will fill the screen optimally for viewing all of your geometry. You can do the same on the post processing.

I suspected it, but I'm coming from a very thin long plate to a perfect cube when I unclick "axis equal"...is this what is suppose to happen? Thanks again!

Yes indeed, the deformation is such as the the scaling is free for all 3 directions and it tries to fill in the total screen volume, it very good for MEMS and thin film analysis.

if you want to check the sizes you have the "ruler", or "solve - get initial values (to fill the matrices) + postprocessing point integration X,Y Z coordinates, or edge postprocessing length calculation by integrating "1"
