Does anyone know what sign convention for shear stress follows in COMSOL?
It seems it does not follow the elasticity sign convention for shear stress.

Hi,

The convention is the one usually used in elasticity:

If the xy component of shear stress is positive, then the traction on a face with the normal in the positive x-direction acts in the positive y direction.

Regards,
Henrik
