Why can't wells in my multiphysics field interface select certain line segments？

Not sure what you mean by the reference to "wells." Comsol Multiphysics often won't let you select some geometric entities under conditions when making that particular selection wouldn't make any sense. If you want more specific advice, I suggest you post your .mph file to the forum and tell us what line segment(s), and under what conditions, you are trying to select it/them.
