Is it possible to create a "memory" of a varible?

I want to be able to define a stress point in space that comsol should remember until a certain condition and then it should change to a new stress point memory. It is a time dependent problem.
Have anyone done this? Is it possible?
I would also like to be able to shift a low stiffness modulus, Eu, to a high stiffness modulus, Er, for a very short time step, as small as possible.. Tried to use flc2hs functions but don't get to work.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
Regards,
Mats
