Hi
in COMSOL most nodes are position sensitive, that is lower nodes override or interact over similar nodes defined higher up.
Now if you have 2 separate studies, these are independent, if you have two sequential solver nodes under the SAME study node then by defulat in the later v4 COMSOL versions, COMSOl will decide to use the results of the first sovlersequence as initial solutions for the next solver (for 2 or more solvers under the SAME study node). In this case you will also get 2 Data Set nodes, and there should be a "Store" solution node in the sovler sequence between the two solver sequences.
Note if you change the solver sequences, COMSOL might not manage to update the sequence if you have change some physics settings that might need solver tweaking, in such a case you need to redefine a new study and remp the results, or just delete the solver sequence (hence also all your results definition be aware) and restart from scratch

Good luck
