Import An Input Stress-Strain Initial State From Abaqus To Comsol

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Dear all I was wondering if it would be possible to import the deformed mesh/geometry and an input file with the stress-strain data after a solid mechanics analysis made in ABAQUS to define an initial state in COMSOL in order to use that geometry and those stress-strain results in other COMSOL's modules. Can anybody help me? Any help is appreciated.

Check if ABAQUS can export the deformed geometry in one of these formats. https://www.comsol.com/products/specifications/cad/

Then you can import that into COMSOL.

You may be able to define an interpolation function in COMSOL that uses data exported from ABAQUS as an initial stress/strain. See this.

Granted since COMSOL has functionality to do this entirely within COMSOL, you might as well make life easier by solving the solid mechanics problem in COMSOL.
