interaction of magnetic field with metal

hi ,
i want to simulate the effect of a very permable steel near a magnetic field (caused from a round coil).
i can't seem to see an effect,i just see the magnetic lines cross the steel as if it wasn't there.
i thought i might have boundary condition problems-i decided that the steel will be "continuity" .was that correct?
