Port and Unit cell

Hi all,

What is the optimum distance between port and unit cell? Is there any rule of thumb for that? should it be symmetry? I mean can I increase the distance between unit cell and port 2 (off)? Moreover, what is the optimum height for PML layers? I've attached a picture for better understanding.
