Particle Tracing Inter-Particle Distance and Forces

Hello all,

I'm trying to model a couple of particle-particle interaction forces and they all depend mostly on the surface to surface distance of the particles.

Does the built in distance parameter (e.g. fpt.r) calculate the distance between the center of particles in which case I would have to substract the diameter of them. Or does it calculate the surface-to-surface distance?

And a more general question: Does Comsol calculates the force on the particle so that attractive interactions have a "positive" direction/sign and repulsive interactions "negative" direction/sign?

Thanks, Sergio

Hello Sergio,

I am also trying to study the particle deposition on the patterned wall using particle tracing module for fluid flow. For defining the interaction between particles and wall (prism patterned wall), I need to know the distance between the particles and the patterned wall. Do you know what's the closest distance between the particle and the wall?

Thank you so much for your time,

Regards,
