Axial Symmetry and plane waves

I am trying to set up a COMSOL simulation of the electromagnetic scattering of a plane wave with an object presenting cylindrical symmetry. The plane waves impinges laterally on the structure.
My question is quite simple: Is it possible to perform such calculation within the 2D axial symmetry module? The structure presents cylindrical symmetry, although the illumination doesn't. However, it is possible to expand the incoming plane wave into a sum of Bessel functions and azimuthal exponentials. I know that COMSOL allows calculating eigenmodes with different azimuthal symmetries, thus, maybe it is possible to take advantage of the structure symmetry in the problem I am trying to study.
