Getting started with modelling lenses

Hi,

I'm new to Comsol and simulators in general and I want to use it to eventually design an optics system. Does anyone know where I can find a beginners guide or tutorial for the ray tracing module? Everything I've found so far is too complex for a beginner or not about lenses. I just want a basic light source and a simple lens to begin with so I can see how it works and then I can start adding to it to make it more complex. I've spent most of this afternoon searching online for anything, but I've not found anything suitable so I thought I'd ask here as someone may know.

You will find tutorials, some including lenses, with step-by-step instructions on how to build them under File > Application Libraries > Ray Optics Module.
Browsing through the manuals for the Ray Optics Module should also help. All manuals are accessed through File > Help > Documentation.

If you have never used any aspect of COMSOL before, you'll probably and before anything else familiarize yourself with the workflow of the software by working through the Introduction to COMSOL Multiphysics manual: www.comsol.com/documentation/IntroductionToCOMSOLMultiphysics.pdf .
