Cut domains

Please login with a confirmed email address before reporting spam

Hi, I want to know if it is possible to cut one domain into simpler parts, and how to do it, because i dont have the CAD import module in my 5.0 version of COMSOL, and I only can import in STL/VRML format, I want more domains in order to add different materials and to mesh complex sections. Thanks a lot.

If you have to use STL format, use version 5.2 which is significantly improved as far as STL import goes over 5.1 and earlier versions. This is particularly true because you're planning on performing further operations on the geometry (like your splitting it). See www.comsol.com/model/from-surface-mesh-to-geometry-stl-import-of-a-vertebra-30951 .
Best,
Jeff

Thanks for your response!!

But if I still need using 5.0 version:

Is it possible that when I have more than one geometry import, in order to get separate domains, all of these geometries in STL format, I could mesh and simulate conjugate heat transfer with these separate geometry imports forming an union or an assembly?
