Using Geometry Modeling Tools in COMSOL Multiphysics®

For efficient setup of models, the COMSOL Multiphysics® simulation software includes specialized features for geometry creation, meshing, and CAD integration. The geometry modeling tools help users create and freely combine different types of geometric objects, such as solids, surfaces, edges, and points. It is easy to modify settings and rebuild the geometry at any time thanks to the fact that operations used to generate the geometry are stored sequentially. These operations are also parameterized, allowing for automatic parametric sweeps and optimization with dedicated solvers.

The CAD interfacing products, which can be added to the COMSOL Multiphysics® platform, extend the functionality by enabling the import of a wide range of CAD file formats. They also offer features for defeaturing and preparing the geometry for meshing and analysis. Imported geometries can also be combined with those created directly in COMSOL Multiphysics®.

For more complex designs, the Design Module add-on provides a 2D sketching environment with intuitive constraints and dimensions as well as tools for modifying and creating 3D objects. For instance, there is functionality for midsurface extraction and creating lofts and fillets.

In this webinar, we will give an overview of the geometry creation capabilities and demonstrate how to build and edit parametric geometries.
