Fatigue damage is known to be one of the main causes of mechanical failure. The key to extending the life of machines or rail components is predicting the fatigue life — a task for which multiphysics simulation software is well suited for due to its ability to account for multiple physics phenomena in a railway system. In addition, multiphysics simulation software enables engineers to make accurate predictions while reducing the need for physical prototyping.

In this webinar, we discuss how structural analysis can be coupled with thermal, acoustics, and electromagnetics analyses to predict the fatigue life of various railway components. We also discuss applications such as:

  • Thermomechanical fatigue in electronic components of OHE
  • Fatigue life prediction
  • Predicting the durability of engine mounts
  • Modeling structural damage and cracking
  • Fatigue failure in rail components caused by harmonic and random vibrations
